Jagged Justice

It's been a long time since I've been able to wear nice clothes.  Work has been too demanding and I woke up Tuesday feeling sick.  At first I thought I had a cold but, after consulting the Internet, I realized I have Ebola.  Oh well...

During the week, I conceived an outfit which turned out well.  Its centerpiece is a skirt.  I've never built an outfit around a skirt before.  Have you?

The skirt's print is chevron, which is often used by Missoni.  I'd love to say I bought this skirt for a thousand dollars from a haute couture designer but, truth be told, I snagged it for $12 at Charlotte Russe.  I spotted it on the rack and pounced.  The shoes are from Torrid, also $12.  Both steals, in my opinion.

Your thoughts on these pieces?

BTW, this outfit reminds me of the funniest blog-post I ever read, written by my dear friend Ashley.  She posted it here.  The story is worth a visit.  Ashley has the best sense of humor.  At the time (2011), I gave Ashley an award for Post Of The Year (POTY).  With that award, Ashley retired from blogging and is now living in leisure on a remote island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by handsome man-servants and ripe coconuts.  :-)

  11. Oh no! Not Ebola. :( I hear there's an experimental treatment for that. It involves endless shopping sprees and oodles of cute shoes. Feel better soon! I think this is one of my favorite outfits yet. How could I not love the pink. :)

  13. Great skirt! I'm a huge fan of chevron stripes---particularly from the 70s. That POTY award seems very prestigious. I'm very into her new island situation with the man-servants and coconuts.

  16. Your hair looks extra awesome in these shots. I love the idea of starting with the patterned item like a chevron skirt. It gives you lots of options with all of the colors. Given my proclivity for black these days, I'm sure I'd go with a black top of some sort, but you matched the pink perfectly!

  18. I've seen you in a lot of outfits over this years, but this by far is my favorite. Everything about it says "Ally". The sexy fishnet, the obvious bright pink Ally color, and the sassy heels.

I think this skirt is super cute and very you. Also extra points for finding designer inspiration at a lower price!

  22. Those shoes!!!! Heavens to Betsy (why, yes, I am busting out the vintage exclamations :D), they look as though they could have pranced straight out of the 1920s/30s. It's really cool to see them styled in such a modern direction, with this beautiful chevron skirt, as I myself would have (not surprisingly ;)) taken them in a much more classic direction. Your fusion of eras is all kinds of fabulous!

  23. Hee! Hee! I'm laughing at you, sorry, your post! And Ashley's! People who like zigzags are clearly crazy! I mean, dedicated followers :-)
Anyway, loving all the little touches...the necklace, the tights and of course the shoes! And the zigzags fit beautifully. XO JJ

  29. While I probably wouldn't choose it for myself, it's still a great outfit. I was never a fan of the chevron, but that doesn't mean I don't like it on other people.

    HOWEVER.

We need to talk about the shoes. I'm tempted to drive to Huntington and steal them.
