We Be Giants

My friend Gracey is, like me, tall.  She jokes that she's a giant, which is the kind of humor I respect.  She even named her blog, Fashion For Giants.

Gracey is one of the sweetest women I know.  In addition to being fashionable, she looks for opportunities to help her friends.  Last month, I commented admiringly on Gracey's newest accessory -- which she calls a "lady-tie" -- and she set out on a quest to find one for me.  She did!

It arrived today.  It's uber-cute.  To showcase it properly, I looked for clothes and makeup that complement the nice colors in the tie.  What do you think?  Have you ever worn one of these?

Gracey has been wearing several lady-ties lately and they look terrific.  Visit her blog and see how pretty this accessory can be.  Mine is from Liz Claiborne Accessories.

Oh, and on the front of Gracey's business card for her blog, it reads, "Fee Fi Fo Fum."  I laughed out loud at that!

  3. Totally cute! Gracey always rocks my socks with her style. It's very deliberate, and very her every time. So glad she was able to share her latest obsession with you! Yellow is your second best color imo (after pink, of course).

  4. I love scarves around the neck and used to wear them all the time, but I've gotten so fussy the past few years that I can't handle the extra bizness around my neck... Maybe because Florida is just so hot it doesn't behoove scarf/necktie wearing.
You look cute in the tank and lady tie,
    Becky :)

  8. This is gorgeous! I am also a scarf addict, as you know, but more with square scarves. I want to try this now, it looks just right. Agree with MM, yellow is a beautiful colour on you.

  9. Oh cute! You've done it up quite playful here. But it also reminds me of the scarves (sometimes bows/ties built directly into blouses) of the 60s office-worker ladies.

  10. Isn't Gracey just amazing! I love lady ties, how is it I don't have one? I'd wear it with collared blouses, but I love what you've done here. These vibrant shades are gorgeous on you, Ally.

    1. I thought about the normal way of wearing this (with a collared blouse) but wanted something more fun, more playful. Plus, this cami draws more attention to it.

  11. Ooooh, that yellow top paired with scarf is gorgeously striking, it really picks out the yellow spots! Plus your eye-shadow matches the scarf really beautifully too! Wish I could do eye-shadow, I am rubbish at it!!!

  14. Love the colours in the tie... It looks like a retro little neckerchief to me, to be worn with a pussy-bow blouse maybe? Very ladylike and pretty anyway.

  15. This is darling! I could totally see it with a simple white blouse and long cardigan too.
    (Loving the make up!)

  17. ooh lady ties, what a fun new accessory to play with. I bet they would look adorable with cute summer/spring dresses, especially if you played up contrasting colors or patterns. I'll have to look into these more!

  18. The yellow top is the perfect compliment to your lady tie. I've never heard of lady ties before. I wear a ton of scarves, though.

  19. I've never heard of lady ties either. It's a great idea. Like a scarf but with much less mass. You look pretty in those nice, bright colors.

  21. Hi, I found your blog through Jessica at Chronically Vintage, you always leave such nice comments there that I had to visit your blog. Another tall girl here, so I will have to check out Gracey's blog too. You look lovely in those colours and a lady tie is a new idea to me, I always feel my neck and collarbone too bony so something like this could be great to soften them a bit. I look forward to reading more of your posts. xx

  22. Pretty lady tie. I call 'em pussy bows and I like them on everything.

Gracey sent me a letter and I saw her biz card for the first time. Love! I'm writing her back on the stationary you sent me.

  23. The yellow dress is the perfect foil for your lady tie! I've been collecting vintage mens ties lately- and looking for ways to wear them. I think your yellow frock has inspired me.... Looking good, buddy!
