I found this polka-dotted cutie in a thrift-store for $6.99. The dress reached out to me and opened its arms. I couldn't help but embrace it. To add color, I pulled out my red bag.
The reason I like this outfit so much is because it's me. It's my style. It's what I would wear if I was allowed to dress like a woman in public. Can you see that?
I LIKE your style--its a great dress (I love the bit of a flip in the hem) and your styling.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for you! I think it is definitely your style! You look fantastic, and I love your fun red accessories!!
ReplyDeleteMmmhmm. I can totally see you wearing this to the office and around town and everywhere, really.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteWho says you're not allowed to dress like a woman in public?! I say go for it! You look adorable :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, really like the how the red handbag looks with the dress, very pretty
ReplyDeleteI love the red bag! Pops of red are one of my favorite accents.
ReplyDeleteThis has to be one of my favourite outfits on you, Ally! If I saw you walking down the street in this (and I could totally see that), I would give you a big smile and say, "You look awesome! Great dress!"
ReplyDeleteThis really IS your style - very female, but not too girly. It's classy. Well done, my dear. :)
Oooh! This is very you! I especially love the red bag with it. Fabulous, classic, chic. Your body language in these photos show a lot more confidence than some of your older photoshoots. Rock on, Ally!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Megan. I noted the same thing and realizing the truth of your point makes me feel really good.
DeleteThis is so classic. Black and white polka dots with red accents? I love it! I agree that this really fits your personal style. The dress is great!

Wow! That is a fabulous dress and so on trend with the polka dots. You gotta love a classic black and white dress. The pop of color with the handbag is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely your style. Short enough to show off your great legs and belted at the waist. With a fun print. It's definitely you and you look great in it!

Yep, that is absolutely what I would have pegged as your style too. Fun, but still mature (as opposed to too youthful), feminine but not frilly. Love the red handbag.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite outfit of yours so far, Ally. I love the shift on you. The graphic classic print, and the color combo all speak to me as well. If this is the real you, I say, dress for you more often! xo. -Bella Q
ReplyDeleteYou've styled yourself into perfection, Ally. So classy... and with the little flirty edge of a hem and a splash of color it shows your wonderful personality. Love the addition of the belt too.
ReplyDeleteI can see you sashaying into some fancy restaurant for an elegant ladies luncheon.
It fits you perfectly too. I'm hoping you have a lot of opportunity in your life to wear your beautiful feminine clothes. You deserve to be loved in a community where you can rock your style like you do on your blog. Here's a big HUG from me. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys. Your remarks are touching.
ReplyDeleteYou must be a fun type of girl, because that's what polka dots say to me...fun...fun...fun! The red purse is a great addition.
ReplyDeleteLooks like this is one of your all time top outfits judging from the other comments. This dress is a keeper!
I was rocking the polka dots yesterday (with red pants, of course) because I wanted to make my Monday a little brighter. It worked! :)

Maybe rather than going out and trying to "blend" with people in a public place, it would be a start to just dress up and then go for a drive? Then when you feel secure doing that, maybe stop at a gas station for a drink?
ReplyDeleteI think we think of going out "dressed" as being this thing that is so big that it is overwhelming. Maybe smaller steps would be more achievable.
You're entirely right, pal. Small steps gain us experience and confidence.
DeleteThe particular steps I'd like to take now are socializing with close friends in semi-public spaces (like our homes). I grew tremendously from the party we had in May and want to continuing moving in that direction in smaller groups.
classy with a bit of fun and excitement...i like it! the dress is a great shape and fits you like a dream. great find and great buy!
ReplyDeleteps. i would love for you to join us girls should you ever be in the area :)
Yes, yes! This dress is PERFECT on you. It fits not only your body but your soul :-) I know in my heart that someday you will wear it proudly and comfortably in public.
ReplyDeleteAwww... that's such a nice thing to say. Thank you, Louise. I try not to dream too big for fear of disappointment, but we need to aspire.
DeleteAs someone who has been out in public for many many years now I would encourage you very strongly to step out without fear or trepidation. Not only do you look credible and feminine but you also dress to blend and not to shock. People will have no trouble believing you are a woman but first and foremost you need to believe it yourself. This is the key....you need to understand and feel in your heart that you are out there being yourself. Relaxed and proud.
ReplyDeleteOnce you get there you will be amazed at the comfort and joy that you will feel. Take small little steps out and take it slow and trust that all will be well
You wont go back in the closet ever again and with each step feel better and better about who you are!
