Caitlyn Jenner
I wrote twice about Ms. Jenner before her public transition from (male) Bruce to (female) Caitlyn. (Here and here.) I haven't discussed her publicly since then. I applaud her courage and wish her well. The widespread media-coverage of her story benefits the transgender community because it normalizes us to people who lack basic information about our lives.

I think she looks awesome - she's got a great mature look, but is obviously having fun with dressing her new look. That leopard dress is a fab corporate look.

Seriously, she looks so much younger than 65. More like 45 - 50, in my opinion. I think she's making great fashion choices. There are a lot of Diane von furstenberg-esque notes to these styles and they really work well for a middle aged lady (and for that matter, most gals of any age).

ReplyDeleteCaitlyn's style is so immaculate and chic, it's really a testament to how our identities are in some ways our callings. When you're able to be true to yourself, your gifts and talents do seem to shine, don't they? :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks fantastic, flawless, and (most importantly) very happy. I applaud all of her fashions (except for leopard print. Because really no one should wear leopard). LOL :) I love her and applaud her for finding her happiness, even if it did come later on in life.

ReplyDeleteShe does look excellent! Reminds me of Lana Del Rey in some photos. She looks like she's having fun with her clothing, which is the best. Especially that last skirt, what a delightful garment.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks very classy. Tbh, I think she's even prettier than her ex-wife, Kris. She dresses very gorgeous and yes, looks younger than her age! I'm glad she's getting to be the person she is. It's a very brave thing to come out, to transition, and to simply be yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've had that same thought, Megan. Though Kris Jenner has ruined her looks with surgery, I've noticed. It makes me sad that people do that, feeling they are not beautiful as they are.
DeleteI agree that she looks great but I do think we have to keep in mind that cosmetic surgery, lots of makeup and photo retouching are all involved and she will receive more retouching as Caitlyn than she did as Bruce. I do hope that her story helps the transgender community to be better understood and supported. xoxo
ReplyDeleteShe does look great for her age, but she's had hundreds of thousands of dollars of reconstructive surgery...if I were already under the knife for feminization surgery, I'd go ahead and tell them to take a few years off, too! ;) Her sartorial sense is totally on point. You can tell she really understands what it means to dress her age. Mostly though, I'm just happy to see her out and about, being comfortable in her own skin :)

I've been watching the show about the kids. Children who are transgender remind me of my youth. I'm glad their fate is better than mine was.
