I watch women dangle their heels, apparently absent-mindedly. I often wondered why they do it. For fun? To flirt? Most men find it irresistibly alluring, so the latter explanation would make sense.
Then I started wearing stockings and heels. And I discovered dangling shoes is fun. It's a pleasant physical activity. At times, it relieves the discomfort that often comes when wearing high heels.
Do you dangle? Why?
I think it's much like clicking the top of your pen, or tapping your finger nails on the desk... just one of those unconscious things you do to create movement or when you are thinking.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I don't dangle! lol I'm a kicker-offer of high heels, and an admirer of my legs in them in the mirror, but the only way I get the dangle effect is if my heels are slightly too big and slipping off :P
ReplyDeleteI never wear heels actually, but I guess dangling is good for airing the feet! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely words on my last post!
Have a great day,

holy heck! great post and awesome pic! are those your awesome legs!
ReplyDeletethat last one was SUPPOSED to be a question! ugg... lol
DeleteHmmm! I need to check and see if I ever dangle ... never noticed it before, Always making us thInk.
ReplyDeleteNever wear heels! If I did, I imagine I would. I am a restless leg jiggler and leg swinger (because my feet never reach the ground in chairs!)
ReplyDeleteI don't really dangle…I hide my feet under the table and remove the shoes completely to relieve some of the agony that is for me at least, part and parcel of wearing high heel shoes.

I admit to dangling. Because of tired feet. It never occurred to be this could be a sign of flirting.
ReplyDeleteBut, when I realize i am doing it, I stop.
Ha! Yes guilty (and under a table they sometimes come off) but it's usually because my feet hurt! Ahh, the sad truth.

I used to do it when I wore heels and my feet hurt!
ReplyDeleteI am a dangler when I am bored. I usually flip one or the other around and sometimes it is definitely if I have been wearing a particularly tortuous pair of heels or even if my feet are feeling hot from the nylons. Nothing flirty about it, just hot feet :)
ReplyDelete100% comfort for me. The pads of my feet hurt from the additional pressure. The arches hurt from being unnaturally arched. Dangling a heel lets my foot assume a more natural posture and relieves the pain temporarily. But you'll learn that temporary pain relief means even more pain when the shoe is back on!!
ReplyDeleteI've always been afraid of my shoes slipping off so I tend to wear shoes with straps and buckles and ties to keep away from the foot-dangle.
ReplyDeleteBut I do imagine most do it because of achy/bored feet.
Definitely to relieve uncomfortable feet
ReplyDeleteThis is such an interesting question. I really enjoyed reading everyones responses...because I have absolutely no idea why I do it.
ReplyDeleteThough I wouldn't say I'm a prolific dangler, when I do, it's usually to relieve the discomfort of a pair that look, but certain't don't feel, beautiful or because I'm anxious/worried (a bit like how some people twirl their hair or cross and uncross their fingers when they feel that way).

I spend most of my time with my feet on the ground, so no dangling here. I actually don't really cross my legs anymore, which looks like the only way to dangle.
ReplyDeleteConsciously I had no idea men found dangling irresistibly alluring - but it doesn't seem odd either, so on one level I must have acknowledged it. Hmmm. Yes, I'm a bad bad boredom, tired, agitated dangler ... sometimes though its strangely fun and comforting ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice question Ally dear.
I dangle as a subtle way to give my feet a break. If I'm in heels, then my flat caveman feet are most likely hot, aching and pinched.
ReplyDeleteUsually I dangle to cool off my feet in warm weather. :-)
ReplyDeleteI admit to dangling all the time. I did it unconsciously at first. I wear 5 to 6 inch stiletto heels daily and find them uncomfortable, but wouldn't consider putting anything else on my feet. I never realized that dangling high heels was a turn on for men until I read about it in a magazine a few years back. At first I didn't believe it. I started paying attention to men's reactions and yes indeed they do tend to stare. I've become quite a tease with my dangling now. If I'm sitting in a restaurant and across the way a guy is admiring my feet and heels then I'll put on a really dangle show! I can see them squirming in their seat. As I leave or if he leaves first I'll usually give a little wink and a smile and nod toward my shoes. Just good old fashioned fun.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's harmless fun. Take it from me -- dangling drives men wild.
DeleteSure does.
DeleteWhat is the name of this Heels?
