I need some fashion advice. You guys always provide sound guidance, so I figure you're just the people to ask. :)
I have a beloved red jacket which I bought in Memphis last year. It was made by the man who designed clothes for Elvis and other rockers in their early years (1950-60's). I showed it to you in my last post about NYC. Here's a closer look at the jacket:
I love the inside of the jacket which is satin and displays a great logo:
Okay, so here's my question. The sleeves have zippers at the ends which means you can flip up the end of the sleeves and show off the satin liner. Ever since I bought the jacket, I've been debating whether it looks better with the sleeve-ends flipped up or left down. I keep going back-and-forth...
What do you think? Which way looks better?
I think if you rolled the sleeves up a little more, maybe closer to the elbows, I'd like them rolled up.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise I like it rolled down.
Yeah!
Definitely down for me. But then I'm pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteYour opinions matter to me so please don't diminish them. They really help me.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of rolling the sleeves up more and like that idea. Thanks, Ashley!
I would agree with ashley and say that sleeves scrunched up all the way to the elbow and then rolled a little so that the lining peeks through would look better.
ReplyDeleteLove from Toronto, Canada
Ditto! More or not at all.
ReplyDeleteI think either, vary it depending on what else you are wearing :)
ReplyDeleteFlipped up for sure ... love the sassiness of the lining showing. The jacket looks even nicer 'up close' ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like the sleeves down. The lining is wonderful, it looks really thick and glossy, but I think you'd be able to move more freely if the the sleeves were down. I'd be worried about catching the pointed ends of the sleeves on something. Also, if the sleeves are down you can layer it over longer sleeves and get some great contrasts happening with that fabulous scarlet colour.
ReplyDeleteRolled down, unless you are rolling the sleeves up to the elbows. A single roll looks a bit awkward. That's some hell of a detail job inside!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your comments send me running for a dictionary. Please keep this up. It is helping. =]
Down...however, if it's really warm and you shoved the sleeves up to your elbows, then I think it would be okay. Otherwise, save the glorious lining for when someone compliments you and shows an interest in the jacket.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...now that I've said that, I don't know! :)
This is a nice jacket !
ReplyDeleteI say down for daytime and up (more rolled up) for night .
That's just me :)
I was going to say the same thing as Ashley. Rolling them a couple of times is better. Or not at all. But the one time just looks like the jacket is too big for you for some reason.
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket, btw. Ever thought about having it taken in on the sides for a more tailored look?
xoxo,
Tracy
I agree with the others on this. Great Jacket !! I Love classic looks.
ReplyDeleteI think leave them down. I like them up and I know why you want to show off that gorgeous lining, but I think I prefer them down. The thing about a lining is, I see it as a secret little treat only for the wearer. It's like a little flash of decadence, but only for you. =]
ReplyDeleteBesides, the way they are turned up in the pic is a bit femme for your streetwear...
ReplyDeleteI do agree a little tailoring might make the line a bit sharper on you. The jacket is fantastic, though!
Nice jacket! I love the lining, it's smooth... personally for sports-like jackets, I would leave the sleeves down or scrunch them up, just to look more casual.
ReplyDeleteI love a rolled sleeve on jackets, button-ups, and even simple long sleeve tees! It just adds more interest to the item, especially when the inside is as cool as your jacket's is! Definitely roll the sleeves.
