After four months in the hospital I finally returned home yesterday. It was a lengthy stay -- the last time I washed my hair Joe Biden was still President.
To celebrate my return I'm adopting "Stayin' Alive" as my new theme song. Sung by the Bee Gees, this hit opened "Saturday Night Fever," a brilliant film that launched John Travolta's career. Check it out.
I still have a lot of rehabilitation work to do. I'm agog to meet the challenge and effloresce. My leg muscles enervated lying in bed and need quotidian exercise. To assist the effort I bought "the Rolls Royce of Walkers" which strengthens your body while also brewing delicious espresso. :)
Do you remember me?
I'm so RELIEVED you're on the other side! What a horrendous nightmare. Stayin' Alive is the perfect comeback song.
ReplyDeleteYour new walker sounds like it's the top of the line.
Big hugs to you and Robin.
Suzanne
Thanks, darlin'. :)
DeleteWelcome back and good luck with the physio! I hope it goes as well as it can.
ReplyDeleteI can just picture you, with headphones on, walker plus coffee, and you moving on to Stayin' Alive.
Thanks for the encouragement!
DeleteHow wonderful to see your post pop up in my reader, Ally!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been quite a nightmare, so I'm glad to read that you're home, even with quite a bit of rehabilitation work to tackle. Stayin' Alive as a theme song is the perfect choice! And a walker which brews espresso: that certainly is the life! xxx
Thanks, Ann. I missed you and the gang here.
DeleteWelcome home! I'm glad to see your post. Wishing you the best as you regain strength.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Megan. Hugs!
DeleteIt's sooo good to see a post from you again! Welcome back :)
ReplyDeleteIt is equally wonderful to be back! I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to communicate with my friends again. Life ain't over, it seems. :)
DeleteOh Ally, I'm so relieved to see this from you and I'm hanging my head in horrid friend shame as Ive got 3 unfinished letters and cards I started writing to you when I knew you were ill which are somewhere in bags in my house and never made it as far as completion and post boxes before I mislaid them !
ReplyDeleteI hope that your recovery will be a constant upward trajectory and you will be well.
Much, much love xxxx
Hi Kezzie. Thanks for the warm support. Don't worry about the unfinished letters; it was the impulse that counts. Hugs!
DeleteALLY! I saw your comment and was so happy to see you!!
ReplyDelete"Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk(er)" - what a an appropriate song for you!
Big hugs to you! I finally read "Eighth Street Women"! What an awesome book! I kept your note in it and sent you good vibes (it took me two months to finish it). It's moved onto another friend, who is also sending you good healing vibes.
Ha! That's a great walker joke. And glad you hear you read the book: it's intimidating big but worth the effort. The lives of those female artists, now historical, were important and deserve attention. I liked Grace a lot (she was my girlfriend's mentor and close friend at Hoffberger [art school in Maryland]). We dined and socialized with her there and in NYC when she had shows where we met others mentioned in the book (e.g., John Bernard Meyers).
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, I remember you saying you knew/met Grace, but you were actually part of the scene!! That is so cool. I found it a pretty easy read, and it was very worth it.
DeleteOh, yeah. Definitely part of the scene, not just through Grace but also through other contacts like my girlfriend Maura's art dealers, fellow artists and partiers. We were young and I was eager to circulate in that world.
DeleteOh, my sweet friend! I have been thinking about you and couldn’t for the life of me find your blog address bc I feel like I’ve lost all of the ways I used to log in but none of that matters because HOW ARE YOU??? I hope you are recovering and I imagine by now you’ve gained strength and mobility again. Sending so much love your way! ~Charlotte (my pixie blog!)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you, Charlotte. I'm slowly getting better; still have a ways to go. Glad you're well and thinking of me. I've missed you.
