Such gorgeous architecture. The use of stone reminds me of seeing Toronto's 'old' city hall after the grime was removed. https://www.flickr.com/photos/31199821@N06/3529722547/
I believe it's because Syracuse was an important commercial center a century ago and it strove back then to celebrate its richness with great architecture.
Awesome architecture! I remember thinking when I visited Philly how Nashville doesn't have very many old buildings, at least not many with unique architecture. Union station hotel, hume fogg high school, the downtown public library and the "Arcade" (sort of an outdoor mall via two storey alley) and the Frist museum is in the old post office. Still most of the cool buildings have been "renovated" or let go into disrepair. Shiny and chrome can be nice, but there is a certain quality to these particular Art Deco and Gothic stylings.
What wonderful buildings! They are so ornate and powerful looking! Where is Syracuse? The only Syracuse I know is in ancient Greece because there is a musical called The Boys from Syracuse which is based on the Comedy of Errors!
Stunningly beautiful. 18th and 19th century decor is my favourite of all time, and I cannot help but melter faster than a snowman in April for stunning Victorian examples like these.
Wow so pretty, I love unique architecture.

ReplyDeleteSyracuse is in upstate New York. It's pretty far north and west, closer to Canada than where I live.
