I'm heading out Thursday for my first big trip of the year. To a place called Vancouver Island which lies off the west coast of Canada.
Vancouver Island is completely cut off from mainland Canada: there are no bridges or tunnels connecting it. The only ways to reach the island are seaplanes and ferries. The island is physically large but has only 800,000 inhabitants, half of which live in a city I'm visiting (Victoria). I'm told the natural beauty of the island is stunning.
As improbable as this sounds, I have two good friends who live there, Sheila and Darlene. The three of us will gather on Friday to meet and have fun. I'll keep you posted!
I used to live in Richmond BC and went to Vancouver Island many times. You will love the trip especially if you drive by great sproat lake and through cathedral grove which has some of the biggest trees I have ever seen...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSay hi to Vancouver Island for me! We have relatives there and spent some lovely moments there in the early 90s. I would love to come and visit Shawna! xo Jazzy Jack
ReplyDeleteYou are going to love it!
ReplyDeleteI think you are taking the sea plane over which is a bit of a shame since often you can see whales and dolphins from the ferry. It is a wonderfully scenic ride.
How awesome is it that you know two bloggers there?
Can't wait to see your photos and what you all get up to.
IF you go to Oak Bay Village (near where I used to live on Beach Drive) check out the Ottavio Italian Bakery...it is fantastic!

The seaplane is way better than the ferry - I have never seen anything other than seagulls on the ferry and I've been taking it for 45+ years!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to be having you here, Ally!
