Up to now, I've experimented with party-clothes, casualwear and fun stuff. I haven't explored work-clothes -- the type of garments a woman wears to the office. I decided to change that.
My strongest urge is to have female experiences. Of every kind. Even the dull and boring ones. So I try to imagine what I'd wear to the office if I could dress as I wish. A pencil-skirt would be nice. And a crisp white blouse. And, of course, a business-appropriate jacket.
So that's what I wore. What do you think?
I can hardly wait to see your Powerpoint presentation! You are destined for the corner office. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Let's do lunch. I'll have my girl call your girl.
DeleteYou look classic. Very professional. I really like this look on you. 😃
ReplyDeleteVery professional. I also like this look on you. But may I suggest a pretty pin? It would draw attention to your face, maybe not, since you have great legs!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. I'll look for one.
DeleteYou found a wonderful corporate look that is perfectly tailored to show off your great figure. Beautiful, classy, business conservative without being uptight. Nice going on finding this suit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! I'm proud of it.
DeleteVery smart ... I agree with Tesla about the pin ... there is too much seriousness for the Ally I know in this outfit ... so something a bit fun and colorful would break the "corporateness" of the suit.
ReplyDeleteNow a little peplum jacket would also look sharp on you with that pencil skirt and killer legs!
I agree about the pin. And I love peplum!
ReplyDeleteI agree a vintage brooch would make this more Ally. : ) Either that or a small scarf around the neck. I like that idea too. Otherwise you look like you'd fit right in at the firm.

If I were the corporate type, this is SO what I'd be wearing! Yup, a pin would be perfect. There are some stunning artist-made ones out there if you want to add a bit of contemporary, edgy look.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT. I bet your court sessions wouldn't even notice. You look amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlthough hilariously, my office attire is much more centered around jeans and plaid shirts than pencil skirts. Our head-of even said a dress is all well and good, but you keep a pair of jeans and steel toe boots in case you need to see a client!!
I've never really ever worn anything like this for work- I totally dislike power-dressing, especially pencil skirts as they are so un-me and I've always worn a more hippy-vibe for work! (Luckily, I've only really worked in Higher Education and Primary Education where I didn't have to be corporate) But I am glad you are having fun exploring your approach to the varied female clothing areas and a pencil skirt looks good on you! Oh and I am totally agreeing with the pin!
ReplyDeleteHow about you do a hippy/boho/festival look? Would you do it for me Ally?!x
I'd love to buddy! Great idea. That's a fun style.
DeleteSorry, just reread my comment and ahrgh, it sounds a bit negative- I didn't mean it to sound like that- it's just I am not good at the power look, but it suits you!x
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I understood your point. I didn't choose this to wear in real-life but simply as a fashion-experiment. For real-life, I'd "Ally" it up with quirky accessories.
DeleteYou look amazing!! But, this is bringing back bad memories of my office days. I hated dressing conservative/professional :(
ReplyDeleteUnderstood. Sorry to provoke the flashback.
DeleteWow, wow, wow! Ally, you really look fantastic! This is definitely one of my favourite looks you've ever sported. Corporate or more formal ladies fashions do not have to be dull at all though. Try wearing a glittery rhinestone brooch, a triple strand of pearls, vibrant single or double (colour blocked) heels, a handbag in a sumptuous texture like (faux or real) alligator, snake skin or lizard; or a vivid red lip (keep the rest of your makeup understated though). There's still lots of ways to play around and look ready to get your Mary Tyler Moore on! :D

Great suggestions. I created a base-platform which can be enhanced with your smart ideas.
DeleteCorporate Ally is very corporate you look great and your legs are amazing. I just miss seeing colour on you because when I think of you I think of bright colours and fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteYou look fantastic, Ally. You remind me of a stewardess. Gorgeous killer legs!

This is SO how I imagine Ally the Lawyer
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning! The pencil skirt really suits you - with your slim hips, it creates the curves for you. Awesome outfit!
ReplyDeleteYou are rockin' that pencil skirt! I love mine, but haven't worn it in a long time. That suit really plays up your shape and great legs!
ReplyDeleteI need to fly back to NY and do something illegal so this competent lady can defend me.
ReplyDeleteI love this look! It's so natural...maybe because you have to dress up for work every day, so you're already comfortable in otherwise-confining dress clothes? Whatever the reason, you look great!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a marvellous look… you look like a bank manager, very corporate and beautiful. I want to see more of corporate Ally.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is marvelous! You look like you're ready to go straight to the courtroom and kick some ass!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many feminine ways to dress up corporate wear, whether it's a great high waisted trouser and blouse, a pantsuit, or a dress. It's nice to see you having so much fun with it-- most women take it for granted!

You need pearl necklace and earrings to cap off this particular archetype. So far, so good!
ReplyDeleteperfect! would hire you!

Haha, love it! So good to see what you would look like in an every day job situation.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I received your holiday card, thanks! Also, a couple of weeks back I received a super destroyed card repackaged by USPS... turns out it was the halloween card you sent. It was super cute, sad that it was mangled by the postal service.
I do love this power look! I always admire the women from legal and marketing, since they usually dress like this!
ReplyDeleteLooking great! :)
You look amziiiiin!!! :)))) Really! So classy and strong!
