i'm visiting my mom for thanksgiving, it's the first time we've had the holiday without extended family and i have to say i'm relieved, it's just going to be my mom and my sister and i. i'm very excited-i'm a vegetarian and often my food needs sort of fall by the wayside when it comes to thanksgiving dinner and i subsist almost entirely on side dishes, but this year we're making a bunch of things i like :)
My mom and I split the work, and we eat at her place. We go all out almost every year cooking for an army, though we are usually only feeding about 4-5. The leftovers are the best part.
We usually see a movie, but this year I begged off. Nothing out I must see. At least not anything showing in any local theater.
Happy Thanksgiving, Ally. I'm coasting. John and I are meeting up with my daughter and son-in-law for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant lunch as per their wishes. The menu sounds really good though! We even get apple pie. I did buy a little turkey breast and a few small side dishes to prepare for the two of us this weekend though.
Up here north of the 49th, we celebrated Thanksgiving early last month, and I'm happy to say that I co-hosted our celebratory meal with my mother. This is the first year in many that I've had the good fortune to live around my family again (prior to this year we were thousands of miles apart), and it was such a blessing and joy to ring in Thanksgiving together again.
Thank you very much for all of your wonderfully kind recent comments. I really appreciate each of them and hope that you have a stellar weekend.
We're not celebrating Thanksgiving over here, but happy Thankgiving to you :)

ReplyDeleteGood for you, buddy. I've had Thanksgiving dinners as a vegetarian and it can be hard if the host doesn't try to accommodate you.
DeleteGoing elsewhere but I'm cooking a turkey anyway. Need those leftovers. Have a good holiday.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to my parents for dinner, Kyle's mom's for dessert. I am making pumpkin pies for both and cookies! :) What are your plans?
