Mmm!

I have a newish affinity for unique signage either found on the street, for sale or in people's homes. I take instagrams to remember the ones I really like. My nephew and his girlfriend live on the edge of Red Hook and we have done a bar crawl or two with them and our sons.

My mother's family settled in Greenpoint which is near Red Hook. My mother, and her 4 sisters all became seamstresses and my mother was a member of ILGWU so the plaque to mama Costello hit a nerve. When I got to HS my mother had to go back to work in a dress factory. She was a great dress maker and the dresses she sewed sold at the upper end department stores such as Lord and Taylor. It was piecework and from time to time she would bring home dresses for herself, her sisters or more frequently for my girl cousins. They would hang on the door hook and you may rest assured that I, for one, was jealous that I would never get to wear such nice dresses.
PatPat Scaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148601231866277374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-67787161692611830292017-02-13T12:06:01.747-05:002017-02-13T12:06:01.747-05:00One of my coworkers lives in Red Hook and actually...One of my coworkers lives in Red Hook and actually writes for the Red Hook Star Revue on a freelance basis.
