Whenever I surprise myself with something I thought that I couldn't do, I feel super-feminine, and I like that, so I dabble in all sorts of activities, from writing poetry to basic car maintenance. (and, apparently, the mother of all run on sentences.) If I can then do a happy dance afterwards in a circle skirt (make sure to spin), then that's even better. Also, I can't explain why, but eating fruit, especially cut up peaches makes me feel feminine.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02757679752138734026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-7621827781098668362014-07-30T16:08:25.281-04:002014-07-30T16:08:25.281-04:00Good suggestions, Lisa. Spend time in your lingerie (do you have some?!) applying your makeup and doing your hair. Play your favourite music while you get ready. Have fun getting glammed up.

I also feel feminine when I cook and bake for my partner. Food is love and feeding him makes me feel good. It makes me feel like I'm taking care of him. Like a woman should do.

Have fun! Anything can make you feel feminine as long as your in the right mindset. (I feel like a powerful female while running for example. You could paint your toenails, because they are hidden in normal life. Also, you wear either a belly ring or a belly chain under every form of business clothing. Also, if you wear socks, an ankle chain would also be invisible. I can attest that a belly ring drives the boys crazee. Perhaps I should have been clearer in my language, although I think everyone knew what I meant.

Gender is a complex subject. Masculinity and femininity serve as markers for gender but are fluid. Some men sew; some women work on cars. Those acts don't change the gender of the people doing them.

I am merely asking readers for activities they enjoy doing, as ideas for things I might like to try. Raised male, I was forbidden from engaging in many female activities and even in adulthood I am discouraged from doing them. I want to transgress those social expectations and try new things.Shybikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15263331247319768989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-43515356670814779282014-07-25T16:49:38.438-04:002014-07-25T16:49:38.438-04:00Wow, you look so glamorous!! It has made me wonder what I do that is feminine because I have never really thought about it, but now I must!

I look forward to reading about what you are doing!!

Shawna McComberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11296162660865309624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-87103137970535337012014-07-25T13:51:17.897-04:002014-07-25T13:51:17.897-04:00I might just be the most unfeminine person ever. ...I might just be the most unfeminine person ever. I read through all of these comments and ideas and I haven't done hardly any of them. I've never been to a spa, I've never got a massage. I hate cooking and the last time I sewed, I jammed the machine and never touched it again for about five years. I've never had a tea/make-up/girly party. I took one dance class when I was 4 and cried the entire time. And I don't even really care for pink. In my own mind, I'm borderline dude, yet I've had others describe me as "dainty" and "feminine."

So I'm inclined to agree with Serene. I think you're already there. It's not so much what, as women, we do, but how we do it. How we view the world and how we react. I think it's difficult to pinpoint what femininity is because every woman has their own "brand" of feminine based on their personality and experiences. I think it's about doing what makes you feel the most empowered and putting your spin on it. For you, as Serene suggests, it might be the way you ride your motorcycle. For me, it might be cussing like a sailor while I'm wearing a pair of heels. I think it's important not to categorize ourselves as "feminine" or "masculine". There's a LOT of middle ground there. So, my suggestion is do what YOU want to do, do it your way, and enjoy it! If that means throwing on a feather boa and drinking tea, that's cool. If it means swinging an axe or reorganizing the tools in the garage, that's fine too!Ashleyhttp://2eyesinthemirror.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-21937211120328122542014-07-25T13:29:21.349-04:002014-07-25T13:29:21.349-04:00I'll get dirty in the garden with you if you&#...I'll get dirty in the garden with you if you'll let me wear pink gardening gloves! :-)Shybikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15263331247319768989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885867892898159023.post-4669566537205935342014-07-25T13:19:55.265-04:002014-07-25T13:19:55.265-04:00Yes yes yes!! I like to use power tools and get dirty and garden, and I also like to play dress up. These were things my Mom and Dad allowed to be included in the female universe.

One commenter above says that you probably have feminine feelings you want to tap into. I think that if there is something you feel less skilled at, that should be where you start. Like me, I feel like learning basic ballet has helped me feel more graceful. I didn't want to be more graceful so much because it's girly but because it was a personality characteristic/skill I wanted. You should seek out things along those lines.

Identify a skill or a characteristic you want to embody and then figure out how to get closer to it. Also, if you really want to feel like a proper Victorian type lady like if that's femininity in your head, try a corset. Nothing is more archetypal of that type of ladylikeness than a corset laced up and squishing your insides.Destrehan's Daughterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18290026646001828215noreply@blogger.com
