Simple Snake

Doing an outfit-post involves a lot of work for me. Without disclosing TG details, the process requires more effort than you guys have to invest. Lately work's drained my energy so I haven't had a chance to do one of these posts, which was making me blue. Today I knocked off work early to remedy that.

There's a piece I've been wanting to wear -- a blue, faux-snakeskin skirt I bought while thrifting last month with Patti. It's a fun pattern and I show a detail of it in the second photo.

After putting my stuff away, I looked at the pictures and realize the outfit has problems. It's shapeless and the top clashes a little with the skirt. But -- and this is a big but -- I had fun. I enjoyed myself. Indulging in playful activity puts a smile on my face. So the less-than-attractive outcome is okay. I'm not trying to impress anyone, just be happy. That's okay, isn't it?

  1. I like that skirt! The length and color are great. The shoes are nice, too.

  2. Happiness is where it's at. Having fun and experimenting is like adult play. It is good for our minds and souls.

  4. As long as you are having fun that is all that matters ... That skirt is really interesting and of course shows off your killer legs!!!!

Shapeless ... clashing a bit ... sounds like my wardrobe. I am not a fashionista ~ so absolutely no comment from me about that comment of yours. Just LOVE to see when you are having fun!!!

  5. I don't think the outfit has problems, or not in the sense you described. A loose top over a pencil skirt is a good idea, and a slightly bohemian top with a more conservative skirt is an interesting contrast. The fact that the loose top is semi-transparant, well, that's not ideal. But I see this as a far more interesting outfit than some of your others because it shows evolution of style: you're mixing styles, contrasting different elements. In my opinion this is so much closer to real life: we take influences from many sources, but don't copy an idea or a concept as a whole. Don't write this off, you're onto something, further research needed.

    2. I agree. I think it's a good foray into a Look. Not every outfit has to achieve an hourglass shape. This still looks feminine and pretty. I think it's a more unique pairing than your usual look.

  7. I LIKE it!! I don't think the Top shape is wrong for the skirt at all. It would appear shapeless if you wore it with a loose, flowing skirt, but it is a pleasing contrast with the pencil skirt! Ordinarily, I really don't like snake skin but in brilliant blue, you hear no complaints from here! I've missed your outfits!

    1. I feel the same way about snakeskin generally but the bright blue color redeems it. Nobody would imagine it's real.

  8. I actually quite like a loose top over a pencil skirt - this is a look I've done myself many times. The sheerness of the top, showing the skirt through it, helps to maintain the waistline. I love the blue snakeskin print! Love, love, love! I think this is a great outfit for you, my dear.
