Sara! Stop passing notes to Beth. I know you have a crush on Kyle but this is school and you're here to learn. If you don't act more mature, I'll sit you next to Heather. She always behaves.
Today's lesson is about philosophy. We'll be discussing gems of wisdom that make sense out of life. Your assignment is to write a comment containing one insight you've learned and believe in.
For you students of fashion, let's hear a round of applause for Gracey who donated the pretty sheer blouse I'm wearing. The yellow camisole beneath it came from Wet Seal. The yellow butterfly earrings were picked up at a recent fall festival. And, of course, I'm wearing orange lipstick because that is Miss Ally's favorite color.
It is possible to empathize with other people's problems, without taking ownership of those problems. All relationships benefit from healthy boundaries.
ReplyDelete"You can't fix stupid"… what frustrates me the most about my clients is that many of them don't have the presence of mind to figure basic things out for themselves. Not that I expect them to know certain things, but that they lack the mental leap it takes to actively SEEK information.
ReplyDeleteI get really irritated when they live right by the bus route, and tell me they have no way to get to another location served by the buses. When I say "call County Mental Health", and they call ME for the number. Really BASIC stuff.
You REALLY look like a teacher in these shots… love it! The outfit is perfect!
ReplyDeleteHahaha!!! LOVE IT!!! :p I love this top you, purple is my favorite color, I love seeing it others!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite phrase, is from Douglas Adams "Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy", Don't Panic. It sounds so random, but sometimes when I start to have anxiety issues, it really works :) not sure if that's what you were looking for, but it works for me.
I just love you, you know that? Well I do!
ReplyDeleteI thought of a quote today I'd love to have on a t-shirt.
"Follow your own arterial."
Of course I was driving when I thought of it. ;)
I love your class, and I'm not just trying to butter you up either.
We use to play school all the time back in the 60's. We used our t.v. trays for desks and I was always in trouble. My older sister was the teacher and her name was Ms. Spotbottom. LOL
Sara! Stop getting me in trouble, lol!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your Miss Ally posts - thank you for including me! Your sheer top is lovely, Gracey did a wonderful job!
Kindness is a wonderful lesson to discuss - there is a quote I love that says "Be kind, for everyone you meet is facing their own battle" or something to that effect. A little kindness goes a very long way. And you are one of the most kind people I know Miss Ally!!
The blouse looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteMy advice: Don't forget yourself.
It's good to be selfless, but some people forget themselves in the process. Don't neglect yourself, otherwise you will burn out and can't help others.
I love that sheer shirt. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour quote reminds me of a quote from Mythbusters. Adam looked at the camera and said "I reject your reality and substitute my own". And I kind of use that for real life. It's a good way to be.
love this!!
ReplyDeletei read this on pinterest and loved it and like to remind myself of it. it was something like "if life has taught me anything it is that it goes on." or something like that.
Loving the purple & yellow together. I always believe to treat others how you would expect to be treated yourself!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend Hun xoxo

Ally - you are resplendent in purple. And I love the yellow accents!
ReplyDeleteI visited a library last week and the librarian shared this reminder, "Always be the first to be kind."
Purple & Yellow is my fave combo. You look great :D
ReplyDeletePhiloshophy might not be just about gems of wisdom, but questioning are they even wise things at all ;)

ReplyDeleteI love your blackboard messages
I love these posts! Loving the purple sheer top, one of my favorite colors. You look great in purple :) Heather
ReplyDeleteIf I have learned one thing in my 67 years it's that there is always something else to learn and it can be fun learning it.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when I saw a Miss Ally's Class post in my sidebar - yay! You look really beautiful. Combining the blouse from our glorious Gracey with a yellow tank and that necklace is spot-on!
ReplyDeleteYesterday what set me straight was this: Every day I feel well enough to get dressed and go to work is a victory.
I don't know if you can call this an "insight," but various circumstances in my life have led me to believe wholeheartedly in what I call (for lack of a better term) fate. If I were religious, I'd phrase it as "God has a plan for us all," but I'm not, so instead I say that everything happens for a reason, and life has a way of taking you where you need to be, even when you think otherwise. Trust the Universe. She's looking out for you.
ReplyDeleteVery cute Ms Ally, and these colors look fab on you - lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in purple! This outfit suits you perfectly. And I'm not sure this is really an insight, but I do believe it. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
ReplyDeleteOh, I never would have thought to layer that blouse over yellow. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteOh purple and mustard work well together! Who knew! Nice job, the combo looks great!

You sure are a pretty teacher! Purple is really, really good on you.
ReplyDeleteOh, insight. Er, always eat breakfast? I swear by it.
I like the colors you're wearing today, Miss Ally.
ReplyDeleteSomething I've learned...
Never give up hope. You never know what totally unexpected, wonderful thing could be just around that corner that you can't see yet, but it's getting ready to run smack dab into you and change your life.
If I'd had a teacher as pretty and as colourfully dressed as you my seven years in an all-girls' grammar would have been a lot more fun! xxx
ReplyDeletePurple and yellow are a great combo. The necklace is just right on you.
ReplyDelete"Write the book you want to read", a quote out of Austin Kleon's book on creativity. This quote resonated deeply with me..
ReplyDeleteMiss Ally is my favorite teacher!
ReplyDeleteMy advice: Always wear comfortable shoes.
Fun post! I love the colors on you and the quotes and the holiday decorations in your classroom. My insightful phrase that I find myself saying a lot is, "Things could always be worse." Now if I could just believe that...
ReplyDeleteI love your autumny colors!!1 Genius to layer the purple over the yellow. If i remember my art school days purple and yellow are opposite each other on the color wheel and pairing them enhances each of them...and you!!
