Miss Ally's Class

May I have your attention, please?  My name is Miss Ally and I will be your teacher today.

Megan!  Put down those scissors.  You can play with them after class.  Lynne!  Stop talking with Sheila.  The two of you are so chatty.  Remember, we're here to learn, not have fun.

Today's subject is fashion.  Developing a personal style is difficult, but if you study your lessons carefully, fashion will improve your lives.

Class, observe what I'm wearing.  I began with a prim, conservative dress and, to make it fresh and interesting, added a trendy scarf in orange.  Repeat after me, "Orange is the new black."  Very good.

Pay attention also to my new matching starfish ring.  Jewelry and accessories are a fun way to perk up an outfit.

I extend the orange theme by wearing my new nailpolish from Sara.  Sara has been excused from class so she can walk down the wedding aisle with Kyle.  They plan to live happily ever after.  Wish them luck, class.

Oh, that's the bell.  Class dismissed!

  6. You're so funny - love it! Thanks so much for the sweet shout-out!

Love the outfit! I can't believe how much your style has grown, Ally. I feel privileged to have been able to have any kind of inspiration for you - thank you.

I'm totally doing an orange scarf in my weekend outfits - it's like you read my mind! Ha!

  7. Whew - at least you didn't take away recess! :)
Consider me inspired to introduce my orange top to my gray cardi ... beautiful outfit! I like that you went with white shoes, too ... I would have defaulted to black shoes, but the white is fresh and fun. And that ring is lovely. :)

  8. I adore the classic-look-turned-up-a-notch styles on you. Fashionable but totally approachable. But, biiig opportunity missed here- what about a cheerful coral lipstick to keep the orange theme? The color you have on is going to be stunning in the fall but the happy white shoes are begging for a summery lipstick balance! Also, your writing of this post totally made me chuckle.

    1. Thanks, Kate. I debated wearing my coral lipstick (I have two shades) and agree it would have been more consistent with the overall look, but sadly, on me, the color doesn't work well. My lips disappear when wearing it because of my facial skin-tone. Perhaps if I found a brighter shade. Thanks for the suggestion.

  10. Ooh ooh, teacher! I have to go to the bathroom! But first, I have to say how much I love your jumper dress. Well, I suppose it's not really a jumper but I love how the fabric says, "back to school."
Thanks for the lessons today. I'm going to bring my book home and study real hard. ;)

  15. Girls just wanna have fun! We're pro'bly talkin' 'bout our crush on the cute teacher :)

You must be the most popular - and fashionable - teacher in the school! That herringbone dress is not prim - that is Sexy Office you're rockin' there. I love the scarf and star fish ring - and the bangles. You know I never go anywhere without an Arm Party! And for some reason I love the little tie belt detail. Covet!

Love the bright orange scarf with this pretty dress....and your nails look great too. If you do your own you sure do a terrific job of it. I may paint mine orange tomorrow to practice on our lesson of "orange is the new black".

    1. Yes, I do my own nails (and toes). I'm still a little sloppy but have gotten better with practice.

  22. I'm sorry i'm late Miss. And I haven't brought my homework, err ... the dog ate it.

Your nails look fabulous, it really goes with shorter nails (my preferred length). Showcases the ring nicely.

  23. Is it ok to grade the teacher? Because you get an A+, especially on the matching nails!
